Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, was on Sunday morning shaken by deafening explosions, which turned out to be bomb blasts.

However, it was a failed mission by two suicide bombers (a male and a female) both of whom died from their explosives before they reach their soft-target, according to PRNigeria.

The incident occurred close to the popular Monday Market in Maiduguri.

I is not immediately clear how the explosives were detonated but the report quoted officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as confirming that 17 persons who were injured by the blast are being attended to by medical personnel in a specialist hospital in Maiduguri.
