The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has commended Governor Godswill Akpabio for his “fiscal discipline and commitment to full implementation of appropriation laws “which it said “has resulted in the gigantic developmental strides in the state.”
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, in a statement, said the House commendation was contained in a letter to the governor after its deliberation on the 26 years of creation of Akwa Ibom State and six years of Uncommon Transformation by the Akpabio administration.
According to him, the House in the letter conveying its resolution, also invited Governor Akpabio to present an address on the affairs of the state.
He said the deliberation by the lawmakers as shown in the letter signed by the Acting Clerk of the House, Mrs Mandu Umoren, was sequel to information brought under Matters of Urgent Public Interest by the member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency, Hon. Sarah Elijah.
Mr. Umanah said the letter indicates that during the proceedings, Hon. Elijah traced “the developmental strides of Akwa Ibom from creation”, saying that “since the emergence of Chief Akpabio in 2007, the state has witnessed multi-sectoral infrastructural development, with a candid agenda of continuity.”
The Commissioner also quoted Hon. Elijah as saying: “The general acceptability of the Uncommon Transformation of the present administration by the comity of states in the country is anchored on life-touching projects being executed, and prayed the House to appreciate and encourage His Excellency in these gigantic and monumental strides.”
