The National Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun State governorship election has unveiled its strategy to reclaim the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with a strong emphasis on grassroots mobilisation and operational planning ahead of the poll.
The resolve was expressed on Monday during the inaugural meeting of the 291-member National Campaign Council and its 12 subcommittees at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
Addressing members, the Chairman of the campaign council and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, said the meeting marked the beginning of a coordinated effort to secure victory for the APC and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
“The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking. It’s not for any jamboree—it is for people to come and offer service,” Uzodinma said.
Uzodinma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, directed the council’s 12 subcommittees to meet within days and submit detailed operational plans to the campaign’s central secretariat.
He stressed that every activity of the campaign council must be geared towards a single objective—returning Osun State to APC control.
“We have only one mission: to win the election. Everything can come after the elections,” he said.
The council chairman also announced that the finance subcommittee had been authorised to begin receiving financial contributions from party members and supporters to fund campaign activities.
“The finance subcommittee is mandated to collect all contributions from willing members and non-members who want to make contributions to the Osun governorship election,” he stated.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, who serves as Secretary of the campaign council, and was attended by national party stakeholders and heads of the various subcommittees.
Uzodinma directed the committees to submit their operational proposals and requests for support to the Central Working Committee on or before Thursday as preparations for the governorship election intensify. (The Nation)
