The body of a 200-level student of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, has been recovered from a stagnant water body in Sabon Garin Yero Village, near Kashere town, Akko Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased was identified as Enoch Sunday Maisamari, a 28-year-old student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Federal University of Kashere.

It was gathered that Maisamari had been missing since Sunday. He was last seen at a graduation party organised by the university’s final-year students.

A witness told Daily Trust that Maisamari, who hailed from Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, was found by the police on Tuesday morning. The source said the police later contacted the university authorities, while one of his coursemates subsequently identified the body.

The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the incident.

Confirming the incident, the Gombe State Police Command said it received a report on Wednesday at about 9:30 a.m. regarding the recovery of Maisamari’s lifeless body from a stagnant water body in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area.

“The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. But investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the Incident,” the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said. (Daily Trust)
