President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in new national commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), at the presidential villa, Abuja.

During the exercise, he also restated the commitment of his administration to sustaining democracy in the country.

This he seeks to achieve by giving every Nigerian the opportunity to elect people of their choice as leaders. The president then challenged the new INEC commissioners to remain upright and ensure their integrity and that of the commission is not compromised.

Meanwhile, INEC Chairman, Mr Yakubu Mahmood, has vowed to ensure that votes of the people of Rivers state count, in the December 10, Rivers re-run polls.

Mahmoud, said this shortly after the swearing of the new INEC national commissioners.

He also dismissed the allegation of bias that has been leveled against the commission, insisting the commission would not be distracted by anyone.

The INEC boss added that the commission is satisfied with the preparations so far, ahead of the polls. (Channels TV)
