Adeniyi Adeyemi
A Fresh details have emerged following the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the Peace and Forest Initiative Peace Commission (PFIPC), an organisation authorities have described as a fake Federal Government agency.
According to sources familiar with the operation, Adeyemi was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, by security operatives before being airlifted to Abuja aboard a private jet for further interrogation.
The decision to transport him by private aircraft is understood to have been part of a coordinated security operation aimed at ensuring his swift transfer to the Federal Capital Territory, where investigators are handling the case.
Adeyemi is reportedly being questioned over allegations bordering on the unlawful operation of an organisation allegedly presented as a federal government agency, as well as other activities now under investigation. Security agencies are also said to be examining the commission’s operations, funding, affiliations, and the identities of individuals who may have worked with or represented the organisation.
Authorities have yet to issue a comprehensive official statement detailing the specific charges against Adeyemi or the circumstances surrounding the use of the private jet. However, investigators are expected to provide updates as the probe progresses.
The arrest has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians awaiting further clarification on the activities of the PFIPC and the extent of its alleged operations.
More details are expected as the investigation unfolds. (Guardian)
