President Tinubu, Comr Ukueku
The leadership of the Niger Delta Youth For Good Governance (NDYFGG) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and all security agencies for the successful rescue of teachers and students abducted in Oyo State.
In a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Lucky O.O. Ukueku, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, the group described the rescue as a sign of renewed commitment by the Federal Government to protect the lives of Nigerians.
“Today is a great day. I was delighted when I received the news of the freedom of the Oyo State teachers and students,” Comr. Ukueku said.
He noted that as someone who has experienced captivity, he understands the true meaning of freedom.
“Since the abduction of the Oyo teachers and students, all well-meaning Nigerians were worried. I was personally saddened by the situation,” he added.
“Today, I am glad that Mr. President, the NSA, the CDS and our security chiefs have worked tirelessly to ensure the victims regained their freedom.”
On behalf of NDYFGG, Comr. Ukueku commended President Tinubu, the NSA, CDS, all service chiefs and security personnel for their dedication and sacrifices that led to the release of the victims.
He, however, urged the Federal Government to extend the same level of security strategy to the northern part of the country, stressing that “every Nigerian deserves to live in peace and safety.”
The NDYFGG President also called on government to tackle crime and unemployment, noting that insecurity and lack of jobs have continued to drive many Nigerians out of the country.
Comr. Ukueku further appreciated the Oyo State Government for its firm stance and proactive approach.
“I personally commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership and commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the people of Oyo State,” he said.
He also acknowledged civil society organizations, activists, and concerned Nigerians who lent their voices to the issue. He particularly recognized VeryDarkMan (VDM) for his peaceful demonstration in Oyo State to demand action over the incident.
In conclusion, Comr. Ukueku charged the President and security chiefs to do more to restore public trust and confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
