FRSC officers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Edo Sector Command, says it has deployed about 100 personnel for Saturday’s Local Government Area election in Edo, after receiving an invitation to join the exercise.
The Sector Commander of the Corps in Edo, Mr Preye Bedford, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday evening.
NAN recalls that the FRSC in a statement earlier, said its personnel in the state would not be participating in the local government area election because they were not invited.
“We have now been invited,” Bedford said.
He explained that the personnel were drawn from the 10 units under the command and three outposts across the state.
The personnel, he said, would be deployed to monitor the election.
“We will deploy about 100 personnel for monitoring, because we have about 10 commands and three outposts,” he said.
Bedford said the restriction of movement announced for the election would be enforced by all security agencies in Edo.
NAN reports that the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission cleared 12 political parties to participate in the election across the 18 local government areas of the state. (NAN)
