Governor Dauda Lawal
Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the suspension of five officials of the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA) over alleged financial misconduct and insubordination.
The affected officials are the Director of Finance, Mannir Sani; Director of Administration, Hauwa’u Tanimu; Deputy Director of Finance, Nafiu Sulaiman; Accountant, Yunusa Muhammad; and Hambali Isah.
The Head of Service, Dr Shehu Usman Hassan, disclosed this in a statement, adding that the governor had directed the State Auditor-General to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The statement said the administration remained committed to justice, fairness and adherence to the rule of law, particularly in the treatment of civil servants.
In a related development, the governor approved the appointment of Ibrahim Sani as Special Assistant on Sign Language Interpretation.
The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, said the appointment was part of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and would improve communication between government and persons with hearing impairment.
He said the appointment was in line with the provisions of the Zamfara State Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Law.
Sani is a certified sign language interpreter and trained special education teacher. He previously served as Vice Principal (Academics) at the School for Special Education, Gusau, and currently serves as the North-West Zonal Coordinator of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters of Nigeria (ASLIN).
