The Niger Delta Deliberators, made up of Professionals and Community Leaders from the region, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to seek the help of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, immediate past governor of Delta State to assist in arrest the spate of bombings on oil facilities in the region.
In a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the group, Donald Igudia from Delta State and the Coordinator Ken Okorodas from Bayelsa State, the group stated that most Niger Delta indigenes are clamoring for the former Governor of Delta State to help the Federal Government salvage the oil industry by assisting the Federal Government to engage the militants in a genuine dialogue to end hostilities in the area.
They also said that Dr. Uduaghan is one man whose constant engagement with militants in his days as Secretary to the State Government and subsequently, Governor, yielded great results. They further stated that the Federal Government committee on resolving the Niger Delta crisis should be headed by Uduaghan.
They pointed out that the former Governor understands the psychic of the youths of the Niger Delta and the Niger Delta terrain very well. They also called on the former Governor to still continue to serve the people through his wealth of experience by helping the current Government to end pockets of crises in the Niger-Delta region and the Nation in general. They further advised the people of Delta South Senatorial District of the Delta State to project the Governor as their representative in the red chambers for a wonderful representation in 2019.
In their final statement, they encouraged Niger Delta people to support the Anti-corruption crusade of President Muhamadu Buhari, stating that corruption is one of the major factors that have kept the Niger Delta region under developed for so long.
