Ebonyi State CP, Hope Okafor
Ebonyi State Police Command has arraigned three persons for allegedly taking part in the jungle justice attack on a woman at the International Market, Abakaliki.
The suspects, identified as Nwokedi Charles, Ekwunife Chidubem, and Okapala Chiamaka, were charged to court following the conclusion of investigations into the “baric” incident.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s PPRO, SP Joshua Ukandu, on Thursday.
According to Ukandu, the Commissioner, CP Hope Urunwa Okafor, vowed zero tolerance for mob action.
Recall that CP Okafor had earlier condemned the attack and ordered a thorough and impartial probe into the matter.
“The Command reiterates its strong stance against jungle justice and all forms of self-help justice,” the statement read.
It urged residents to report suspected offenders to the Police rather than resort to mob action.
“Members of the public are urged to always report suspected offenders to the Police. The Command warns that anyone found engaging in jungle justice will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” it added. (Nigerian Tribune)
