Some lawmakers in Nasarawa on Wednesdayurged members of their constituencies to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and support him as he struggled to resuscitate the ailing economy.
The lawmakers, Mr. Murtala Sodangi and Mohammed Okpoku, members of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, made the call when Forum of Interim Management Committee (IMC) members of Nasarawa Local Government Area visited them in Lafia.
Both Sodangi and Okpoku hail from Nasarawa Local Government area of the state.
They urged the IMCs members to work as a team and continue educating their constituents on governments’ policies and programmes in the interest of peace and national development.
In his remark, Sodangi commended the IMCs members for the visit and assured them of his readiness to key into positive programmes and policies that had direct bearing on the lives of the state.
“Sustained prayers by the adherents of the two major religions in the country will definitely assist the president and other elected and appointed leaders to overcome both the economic and security challenges hindering the speedy development of the country.”
Also speaking, Okpoku appealed to the people to be patient and prayerful as President Buhari strived to fix the economy.
“I believe that no condition is permanent; the recession is temporary; the economy will improve and the hardship will be history.”
Earlier, Mr. Umar Namama, the chairman, Forum of IMCs, who spoke on behalf of others, said that the visit was to show solidarity and to appreciate the members for serving the people of their constituencies and the state in general. (NAN)
