The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced a planned power outage that would affect Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states from 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The system operator made the announcement in a statement released by its management on Friday via its X handle.
It said the outage was to facilitate essential maintenance work at the 330 Kilo Volt (kV) Kumbotso Substation by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
It said that the upgrade was a critical investment that would strengthen the national grid and enhance the transmission capacity of the network.
“This will improve electricity supply to customers in the region, and also improve the overall resilience of Nigeria’s power system.
“During the maintenance period, electricity supply will be temporarily interrupted in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina.
“We regret any inconvenience this outage may cause and sincerely appreciate members of the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation,” it said. (NAN)
