Popular businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has rewarded an Ekiti woman with ₦1 million after she allegedly refused a ₦15,000 vote-buying offer during the state’s recent governorship election.
The woman attracted widespread attention on social media after a video emerged showing her explaining why she turned down the money despite facing financial difficulties.
In the viral clip, she said she chose to protect her conscience rather than exchange her vote for cash.
“My vote and conscience are not for sale,” she said.
Reacting to the video, Fayose praised the woman’s decision and announced a cash reward in recognition of what he described as an act of integrity.
“We still have people with integrity in Ekiti. ₦1 million for her for not selling her vote,” he wrote on social media.
Fayose described the woman as a symbol of honesty and courage, saying her action demonstrated that Nigerians can resist electoral inducement and contribute to strengthening democracy.
According to him, the reward was intended to encourage others to remain principled and reject vote-buying regardless of financial pressure.
The gesture has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians commending the woman for standing by her principles and praising Fayose for recognising what they described as an exemplary act of civic responsibility. (Arise News)
