Kebbi State APC Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru
By GARBA MUHAMMAD
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended its State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, and the party’s Chairman in Zuru Local Government Area, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Abiola, over alleged violations of party principles and procedures.
The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the APC State Secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad Kimba, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the party, the disciplinary action followed complaints from stakeholders within the Zuru Emirate, who alleged that the affected officials displayed a lukewarm attitude towards party activities, failed to adequately engage critical stakeholders, showed insufficient commitment to party mobilization efforts, and did not comply with established party guidelines.
The statement said the allegations were subjected to an internal review and investigation before the party leadership resolved to impose disciplinary measures.
As part of the decisions reached, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru was suspended from his position as APC State Chairman, with the Deputy State Chairman directed to assume leadership in an acting capacity pending further directives from the party.
Similarly, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Abiola was suspended from his position as APC Chairman of Zuru Local Government Area.
In a related development, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Livestock Development and Fisheries, Alhaji Kabir Usman Alaramma Zuru, has also been suspended from office.
The suspension was contained in a separate statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, and made available to journalists on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
The government further directed the commissioner to hand over all official responsibilities, documents, and government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development and Fisheries pending further action.
The state government did not provide details on the specific reasons for the commissioner’s suspension.
The twin developments are expected to generate significant political interest within the ruling APC in Kebbi State, particularly in the Zuru Emirate, where the affected party officials wield considerable influence.
The party and the state government have indicated that further directives on the suspensions will be communicated in due course.
