The Delta State Police Command has secured convictions for 23 traffic offenders as its statewide enforcement of traffic regulations continues.

The Command’s spokesman, SP Edafe Bright, made the disclosure in a statement yesterday.

He said 26 vehicles were arrested for various traffic-related offences and subsequently charged before the Mobile Court provided by the Delta State Government for immediate adjudication.

According to him, the enforcement exercise is being carried out in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and the Command’s commitment to promoting road safety, public order and compliance with extant laws.

The spokesman said the exercise is aimed at addressing traffic violations that endanger lives and disrupt the orderly use of roads.

Edafe stated that at the conclusion of the court proceedings, 23 offenders were convicted and ordered to pay fines commensurate with their respective offences, while three others were discharged and acquitted.

He said the outcome underscored the Command’s determination to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations through lawful and transparent enforcement measures.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain the exercise across the state.

He warned that violators of traffic laws would continue to face appropriate legal sanctions.
