Fati Cele and her boyfriend, Ismail Makaye
The Kano State Police Command has detained a popular TikToker, Fati Cele, following the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, under circumstances that are currently under investigation.
Fati Cele, originally from Borno State and residing in a rented apartment in the Danbare area of Kano, is well known on TikTok, where she has amassed over 32,000 followers.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the tragedy occurred at Cele’s residence, prompting a police investigation into the events leading to Makaye’s death.
A close associate of the deceased alleged that the TikTok star ran out of her house screaming that there was a fire, which attracted neighbors to the scene.
“When people entered the house, they found Isma’il with burn injuries and traces of blood on his body,” the source claimed.
The victim was reportedly rushed to Nassarawa Hospital for emergency treatment, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
Sources also disclosed that officers from the Dorayi Babba Police Division subsequently took Cele into custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
Friends of the deceased and acquaintances of the TikTok influencer stated that the couple had experienced relationship difficulties in the past and had reportedly separated before reconciling recently.
Makaye, a cosmetics trader from the Hotoro Tishama area of Kano, was later buried at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki after his remains were released to family members for funeral rites.
At the time of this report, the Kano State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the death or the status of the investigation. Police authorities are expected to provide further details as inquiries into the incident continue. (Saturday Tribune)
