The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial support to facilitate urgent medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardian in Isiowulu community, Idemili North Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
Expressing concern after witnessing the severity of the child’s condition and pain, the Command through its operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department rendered support for his medical care and recovery.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Thursday said that the gesture underscores the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the society, especially children.
He said that it is also aimed at ensuring that victims of abuse receive the necessary care and support.
The statement reads in part: “The Command has intensified its investigation into the incident and is committed to ensuring that all individuals found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
“The Police remain steadfast in enforcing laws designed to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and all forms of violence.”
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, however reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with relevant government agencies, child protection organizations, and community stakeholders to promote and safeguard the rights, safety, and welfare of children throughout the State.
He stressed that Anambra State Police Command remains committed to promoting justice, compassion, and the protection of human rights in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
