A businessman, Mr Ibrahim Bauko, has dragged an Army Officer, Maj. Mamza I.J., to court over alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, mischief and threat to life involving 3.2 hectares of land.
The case, brought before the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Masaka, Nasarawa State, had Hamza, who resides at New Karu, Karu LGA and other defendants, accused of criminal conspiracy and trespass of the land.
In a direct criminal complaint filed pursuant to Sections 88 and 109 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Nasarawa State 2018, the complainant, Bauko, claimed possession of the land.
He averred that the plot of land, measuring 3.2 hectares, and situated at Ruga Madaki, Mararaba, Karu LGA, had been his exclusive possession since purchase.
He further averred that the defendants, on May 15, 2026, entered the property without lawful reason, destroyed his beacons and buildings with armed thugs, and threatened to kill him.
Bauko also alleged that the defendants placed a signboard on the land with the inscription “Military Zone Keep Off” in order to scare him away from his land.
He said as a result of the threat by the defendants, he could no longer access his land.
The complainant stated that the acts of the defendants constitute offences of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, mischief and intimidation, contrary and punishable under Sections 97, 348, 327 and 397 of the Penal Code Law of Nasarawa State.
He, therefore, sought an order of the court to stop the defendants from parading themselves as owners of the land.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendants were not present in court when the matter was called for mention.
The Chief Magistrate, Godiya Bawa, adjourned the matter until June 26, for further mention.(NAN)
