Operatives of the Anti -kidnapping Unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command have, in collaboration with the officials of the Development Control Unit of the FCDA, demolished and burnt down hideouts of suspected kidnappers at Zhiko village in Paze, Bwari Area Council of the Territory.
Daily Trust reports that the Anti -kidnapping operatives, led by the FCT Police Commissioner CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, last week raided a kidnappers’ hideout in the area where two suspects were gunned down while five abducted victims, including a pastor, were rescued.
CP Sanusi, while addressing newsmen after leading the demolition of the hideout on Monday, said the discovery of the den followed the arrest of some of the suspects.
He said the arrested suspects confessed that the place is their hideout and also were other kidnappers always come to cook their food to eat and also serve their captives.
“So it was based on their confession and also coming here to point at their houses, their abode, we think it is only right to bring down the houses, which is why I led officials of the development control and my men here,” he said.
According to him, the suspected kidnappers hideouts beneath some rocky hills share boundaries between the FCT and Kaduna and Niger State, which he said the area he led clearance operation to last week.
The police, however, warned residents especially villagers against harbouring kidnappers and bandits, saying the command would not rest on its oars in ensuring that any form of criminality is stamped out of the territory.
He, therefore, vowed that the command will pulled down any house found or discovered to be used for harbouring kidnappers or holding victims captive across the FCT. (Daily Trust)
