Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musawa has lost her mother, Hajiya Fatima Binta Ladi Musa Musawa.
Nneka Ikem Anibeze, the Minister’s SA Media and Publicity, announced her death in a statement.
She passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026 after a brief illness.
Hajiya Fatima was born on August 15, 1955 in Gusau, Zamfara State.
She was widely respected for her faith, humility, and devotion to family.
In line with Islamic tradition, funeral prayers (Jana’iza ) were held today at the National Mosque, Abuja, after which she was interred at Gudu Cemetery, Abuja.
She is survived by six children among whom are Zainab Musawa, Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties in Katsina State, Hajiya Hadiza Ali Special Assistant to the President; and the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, among others.
The statement reads: “The Minister, staff of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Musawa family appreciate the outpouring of condolences and prayers from the Federal Government, colleagues, stakeholders in the creative industry, and well-wishers.
“May Almighty Allah grant Hajiya Fatima Binta Ladi Musa Musawa Al-Jannah Firdaus and grant the family the fortitude to bear this loss. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.” (The Nation)
