Critical stakeholders in the security sector including top echelon in the military, have concluded arrangements to converge on the nation’s capital and chart new ways over continuous porous borders.
The stakeholders, who converged under the aegis of Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC), will examine the challenges facing Nigeria’s borders and explore practical measures for enhancing national security and stability.
They are policymakers, security practitioners, members of the Armed Forces and other security services, academics, diplomats, civil society organisations, the media as well as other sectors.
In a statement by Acting President of AANDEC, Commodore Amatare KPOU (Rtd), the seminar themed: “Strengthening Nigeria’s Border Security Architecture for National Stability,” will provide robust discussions for transnational crime.
According to him, the 15th Annual National Security Seminar will be held for two days (16 to 17 June, 2026) at the Main Auditorium of the National Defence College, Abuja.
He said, “The event is expected to provide a strategic platform for robust discussions on border governance, transnational crime, irregular migration, arms trafficking, and other emerging security threats, with a view to generating actionable recommendations for strengthening Nigeria’s border security architecture.
“AANDEC, as an association of graduates of the National Defence College, remains committed to promoting informed dialogue and contributing to policy development on issues of national security and strategic importance.”
The statement noted that members of the public and interested stakeholders are invited to participate in the seminar. (Weekend Trust)
