Four suspected armed robbers and cultists have been arrested at their hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the arrests in a statement made available to the media on Friday.
He stated that the arrests were made possible due to credible intelligence reports regarding the activities of the suspected criminals in the area.
“On Friday, 10th June 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., operatives of the Command Violent Crime Response Unit, acting on credible intelligence, received information that members of a notorious criminal syndicate, known for terrorising residents at various locations within the Ibadan metropolis”.
The intelligence reports, according to the statement, reveal the suspects were planning to embark on another criminal operation within the community from their hideout as at the time of the arrest.
The suspects whose identities are given as; Salawu Sarafa alias Folori, Yusuf Tajudeen alias Blacky, Farouq Ariyo and Adebayo Awosemo alias Naira is said to have confirmed their membership if Eiye Supremo Confraternity.
‘During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity and admitted their involvement in a series of violent criminal activities within the Ibadan metropolis and its environs.
“The Command has commenced discreet and intensive efforts aimed at apprehending the fleeing suspect and dismantling the criminal network. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities and identify other accomplices” (Nigerian Tribune)
