In what appears to be a repetition, the meeting of Nigerian Senate with the officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), on Monday, to find a lasting solution to issues on ground since 2009, again, was inconclusive.
However, the Senate mandated its President, Bukola Saraki to dialogue with FG and ASUU to resolve the issues.
News Express learnt that after a meeting held in a closed-door session, that some of the issues which were discussed were predicated on short fall in salary, Needs Assessment, TSA, Pencom and Staff Schools of the union.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Labour, Senator Suleiman Nafiz, ASUU Officials, Senator Mao Ohabunwa, and representatives of the Minister for Labour were part of those in the meeting.
Lawmaker Nafiz however, reiterated the stand of the Senate President Saraki, saying that “Nigeria Senate is Passionate about this problem and wants to put an end to it. The economic situation is not good and parents cannot be left with their children at home.”
