No end to APGA crisis; factions insists National Chairman remains suspended

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has persisted as the factional leadership of Ozo Nwabueze Okafor insisted that its embattled National Chairman, Dr Victor Ike Oye, will remain suspended from the party.

The party noted that the investigation panel set up by the NWC under the leadership of Okafor has submitted its report which, according to him, indicted Oye for gross misconduct.

The faction in a statement issued by its Deputy National Secretary, Jerry Obasi, insisted that the suspension of Oye still remains in force, charging agencies and organisations to take note of the party’s NWC decision.

The statement noted that a disciplinary panel, headed by APGA National Youth Leader, Mr Chuks Nwoga, was set up to investigate the alleged gross misconduct and accusation against the chairman and two other members of the NWC: Uchenna Okogbuo and Alhaji Abubakar Adamu.

“The investigative panel has submitted its findings and recommendations with very strong indictment on Dr Oye for gross misconduct in gross violation of Article 12 and 19 of APGA constitution.

“It is regrettable that in spite of this current status in the party, which calls for remorse and soul searching on his part which has brought APGA to disrepute and dwindling electoral fortunes in Nigeria, Dr Oye has deliberately refused to heed the good counsel of eminent party leaders.

“The true situation is that the embattled erstwhile chairman remains suspended based on the recommendations of the disciplinary committee set up by the National Working Committee,” Obasi stated in the statement.

While the state chairmen of APGA have supported the Oye-led leadership of APGA, the faction headed by Okafor has maintained its stance on his suspension and approached a High Court to stop Oye from parading himself as APGA chairman.
