The Nigerian Army has warned potential recruits into the Nigeria Army in Zaria against the use of fake results and identity with a view to becoming soldiers by hook or crook.
Commandant of the formation, Brigadier-General Christopher Gwabin Musa gave the warning while exchanging views with Zaria based Correspondents led by their Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Bello Habib when they paid him a courtesy call in his office on Tuesday.
He observed that, in the last recruitment exercise a lot of applicants were discovered to be holders of fake result certificates and identity as a result of which they were delisted.
The Commandant pointed out that the Army believed in credibility hence it would not relent in its effort in maintaining the credibility.
He explained that to check the problem, his Command had taken serious measure for results and identity verification before enlisting recruits. “Any body found with problem will not be considered and drastic measure will be taken against him or her,” he emphasised.
Speaking about relationship between his formation and journalists, he stated that it was cordial.
The Commandant assured of continued working relationship with them.
“The media is the 4th arm of government; on our part we want to assure that we will continue to maintain the tempo.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the forum told the Commandant that the visit was aimed at making the existing relationship more cordial.
Comrade Habib pointed out that his members work harmoniously with Army Public Relations of the formation. He therefore thanked the Commandant for the warm reception accorded the journalists.
