In its bid to avoid internal implosion, the Imo state APC may have jettisoned the consensus option which has already created tension in the party for direct primaries to determine those that will fly the flag of the party both in the state Assembly and the National Assembly respectively.
This is even as aspirants of the party have been encouraged to go into the field and interface with members of the party at their various wards and constituencies ahead of the primaries.
In a press statement signed by Hon Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, on Saturday, the spokesman of the state party said that all card-carrying members of the party will vote in the forthcoming primaries of the party.
The statement reads: “The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress wishes to remind our teeming members that in line with the Revised Schedule for the 2026 Primaries of our party, the primaries for the nomination of our flag bearers for the 27 state constituencies, ten House of Representatives constituencies and three senatorial districts”.
All card-carrying members of our party are automatic kingmakers, as every party member shall vote in the upcoming primaries.
Continuing, “We urge party leaders and officials at various levels not to stop aspirants from interfacing with and marketing themselves to party members.
Party members are encouraged to avail themselves whenever they are called upon by aspirants. We urge them to listen to every aspirant of our party, ask them questions, as this will enable them to make informed choices and cast their votes right in the primaries.”(The Sun)
