The attacked hospital
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Dr. Edwin Emegoakor, has been allegedly kidnapped by a four-man gang of gunmen adorning army and police uniforms.
Information has it that in the course of the operation, the hospital security operatives, medical personnel and other workers within reach were surrendered at gunpoint with their phones taken.
According to sources inside the hospital who spoke on condition of anonymity, the incident happened at about 6:30pm on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Narrating their ordeal, they said the gunmen quietly drove into the hospital with a black tinted Lexus 350 and parked.
"They were casually discussing inside their car while people were moving about in the hospital freely without noticing them.
“They were patiently waiting for their victim and later two of them, one in army camouflage and the other in police uniform, came out and picked the CMD who was on a ward round.
“Meanwhile, the gunmen surrendered the security men and some medical personnel, took their phones together with others around and left with their victim, Dr Emegoakor.
“No life was lost in the process, probably because they did not want to attract the attention of patients and other passers-by,” the sources hinted.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that such a report was yet to come to his table but promised to get back to our correspondent.
