NDYFGG National President, Comr Ukueku
The National President of the Niger Delta Youth For Good Governance (NDYFGG), Comr. Lucky O. O. Ukueku, today joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating Workers’ Day and extending warm wishes for a peaceful and prosperous new month to all citizens, especially the people of the Niger Delta.
In a personally signed statement, Comr. Ukueku expressed gratitude: “Today is a day the Lord has made, and we are thankful to witness it. Despite the prevailing security challenges and economic hardship in our country, even under the Renewed Hope administration, we acknowledge God’s faithfulness.
“While today calls for reflection rather than rhetoric, it is important to honour the resilience of Nigerians who continue to endure these trying times. On a personal note, I never envisaged I would be alive today, but man proposes and God disposes.”
On Leadership, Prayer, and National Unity
Comr. Ukueku called on Nigerians to remain steadfast, focused, and prayerful. He said: “We must keep praying for our leaders and for our nation. Our prayer is that those who are self-serving will have a change of heart for the sake of ordinary Nigerians, especially our youths who struggle in their own land because some elders have not created space for generational transition.
“I specially pray for the Niger Delta for peace, unity, and sustainable development across our communities. May God heal our land and raise helpers for our region.”
Ukueku renewed his advocacy for good governance and civic participation: “Your PVC remains your strongest voice. I encourage every eligible citizen to register, collect, and use it to express their will during elections.”
On Youth Development and Federal Intervention
“Nigeria has the potential to be far greater than its current state. However, a combination of self-centered leadership and a culture of complacency among some youths has slowed our progress. Idleness remains a major driver of crime. Every young Nigerian deserves productive engagement.”
“We respectfully call on the Federal Government to prioritize more tangible development projects in the Niger Delta Region. Our people have given much to this nation and deserve improved infrastructure, job creation, and environmental remediation.”
“We pray that God raises sincere and visionary leaders for our nation, while redirecting those who do not mean well for the people.”
On Workers’ Day
“It is painful that poor leadership has diminished our national dignity. Today, I salute all Nigerian workers for their sacrifice. I also stand in solidarity with the millions of graduates who have remained unemployed for 10 to 20 years in their own fatherland, while public trust and resources are being mismanaged. We continue to pray for a better Nigeria.”
To NDYFGG Members and Critical Stakeholders
Comr. Ukueku commended members of the NDYFGG for their consistency, sacrifice, and commitment to the ideals of the forum. He also appreciated leaders across the Niger Delta for their service and appealed for greater collaboration.
“Since inception, NDYFGG has operated without financial support from any individual or government agency. Yet we have remained committed to advocacy for Nigerians and the Niger Delta. We have consistently defended institutions such as the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Tantita Security Services, and the NDDC because of their importance to our people. We believe in partnership.”
Appeal for Inclusive Partnership
“We respectfully appeal to these critical agencies: NDYFGG has stood with you in good and difficult times. We request to be considered for partnership opportunities. Our mandate is clear, to commend, defend, endorse, critique, and recommend leadership, whether good or bad. We have played that role faithfully, even without benefiting from empowerment programs, employment slots, or institutional support.
“However, this will not weaken our resolve or faith in Nigeria and the Niger Delta. We assure all stakeholders that any opportunity extended to this forum will be transparently distributed to our members across the region.”
Concluding, Ukueku said: “The NDYFGG seeks only to serve. We have supported many causes and constructively engaged leadership at all levels. We therefore call on government and stakeholders to partner with the Niger Delta Youth For Good Governance Forum as we work together to empower young people across the region.”
