Ngas annual traditional festival
The annual traditional festival of the Ngas nation in Plateau has been postponed over security concerns in the area.
The paramount ruler of the Ngas people, the Ngolong Ngas Jika Golit, announced the postponement of the 2026 edition of the festival known as ‘Pusdung’.
Golit, in a statement signed by his chief media officer, Mr Wukaska Gowon and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Jos, said the festival was slated for April 25.
The traditional ruler described Pusdung as a major cultural event that celebrated the heritage, traditions, and unity of the Ngas people.
He stated that the decision to postpone the festival was immediate and unavoidable, emphasising that safety considerations were paramount.
Golit offered prayers for “God’s protection, lasting peace, and harmonious coexistence among all the people of Ngas land and Nigeria at large.
He appreciated the invited guests and participants for their support and preparedness and assured them that the festival would be held at a later date when conditions improve.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Pusdung is regarded as one of the most significant cultural gatherings in the region, drawing attendees from across Nigeria and beyond. (NAN)
