A young man identified as Christopher who was shot by suspected kidnappers in Auchi near Igbira camp, Edo State has been confirmed dead.

Christopher was attacked and shot by the suspected kidnappers, while they took his partner away.

The Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin.

Ikoedem said eye witnesses said the suspected kidnappers were in military uniforms.

“I am not saying they are soldiers but they said the people wore army camouflage. The young man was shot, he was later rushed to a health facility but later confirmed dead. Efforts are in top gear to apprehend them and rescue the lady,” she said.

On the attack that occurred on the Benin – Ore- Lagos Highway, the PPRO said operatives have embarked on bush combing.

“Apart from the woman that was rescued with gundshot, no other person has been rescued but we are closing in on them but I can’t disclose everything that is being done because of security implications” she said on the incident. (The Guardian)
