Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle
Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has shared an emotional reflection on grief following the death of his newborn daughter just hours after her birth.
The actor had recently revealed that he and his wife, Olufunmilayo, welcomed their first child together, Omayinuwa. However, the joy was short-lived as the baby passed away shortly after birth, turning celebration into mourning.
In a heartfelt Facebook post late Monday, Doyle described grief as a constant presence that reshapes one’s reality, calling it both familiar and deeply unwelcome.
“There are moments in life when words feel too small for the weights we carry. Grief, it is not an event; it is a companion. Familiar, unwelcome yet ever present. I stand before you not as one who has read about sorrow but as one who has walked in it,” he said.
The actor also reflected on the multiple personal losses he has endured over the years, including the death of loved ones, noting that the pain remains profound.
“I have known the pain of losing a beloved wife, the heartbreak of burying a son and now the fresh wound of laying to rest a child born only a few days ago. And yet in the midst of all this, I can say with conviction, I am still standing. Not because I am strong in myself but because I am held by a strength greater than my own,” he said.
Despite the tragedy, Doyle emphasised that his resilience is rooted in faith, attributing his ability to endure to what he described as divine strength. (Vanguard)
