Former ex football Chief, Ibrahim Galadima
NFF President Gusau mourns Ibrahim Galadima, hailing the late ex-football chief as a mentor and respected sports administrator.
Nigeria’s football community is in mourning following the death of former Nigeria Football Association (now Nigeria Football Federation) President, Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away at the age of 74.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, described the late Galadima as a mentor and a pillar of integrity whose contributions to Nigerian sports remain invaluable.
“This is another one that hit us hard. Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima was a mentor to so many of us in leadership today. He was the epitome of dignity, diligence, and integrity,” Gusau said.
Galadima served as President of the then Nigeria Football Association between 2002 and 2006, during a period marked by efforts to strengthen football administration in the country.
Before his tenure at the national level, he held several key positions, including Chairman of Kano State Football Association, Executive Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council, and First Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
He also served in public office as Commissioner for Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, and later as Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport in Kano State.
Born on June 14, 1951, in Kano, Galadima dedicated decades of his life to sports development and administration, earning widespread respect across Nigeria’s sporting community.
He was also a member of the Presidential Monitoring Committee for Stadia Development ahead of the FIFA World Youth Championship, contributing to preparations for international sporting events hosted by Nigeria. (AriseNews TV)
