The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kwara State chapter, has described as false the alleged rumour of a quit notice issued to Fulani in some parts of the state.
The State Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Shehu Garba, in a statement in Ilorin, said there was no place in Kwara where an eviction notice had been issued to Fulani herders.
According to him, investigations by the association in the areas mentioned in the social media publication, including Patigi, Ifelodun and Gbugbu, showed that the allegations were false.
Alhaji Garba said the rumour of an eviction notice to Fulani was a figment of the imagination of those peddling the information, whom he accused of not wanting peace in society.
He also stated that no such notice had been issued to the Fulani community by the state government, local governments, traditional institutions or vigilantes across the state.
The MACBAN chairman thanked the state government, local authorities, security agencies and other stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring peace and security in all parts of the state, while urging law-abiding Fulani to go about their lawful activities and disregard the rumoured eviction notice.
The Fulani leader also warned criminal elements within their ranks to leave the state and allow peace to prevail. (TRIBUNE)
