A wave of shock has gripped residents of the Sabon Gari area of Kano metropolis following the death of a married woman and mother of five at the residence of her male friend, Lucky Isuma.
The deceased, identified as Sandra and reportedly from Abia State, was confirmed dead on April 11, 2026, at No. 47 Aitken Road, Sabon Gari, Kano.
An unconfirmed account by neighbours stated that, before her death, she had asked for food, adding that her male friend had gone to source food when she passed away.
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect had been arrested.
He remarked that, “On 11th April 2026, at about 1030hrs, one Chidera Nwobi, male, aged 22, of No. 47 Aitken Road, Sabon Gari, reported at Sabon Gari Police Division that at about 1000hrs of the same date, he found a female adult, approximately 30 years old, lying unconscious and motionless on a bed inside the room of his neighbour, one Lucky Isuma, male, aged 41, of the same address.”
Kiyawa said that detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene of the incident, adding that, “The victim was photographed and no visible marks of violence were observed on her body”.
Kiyawa added that she was promptly evacuated to Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital for medical examination, where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
“The Command assures the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death. The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course,” he stated.(The Sun)
