Primate Ayodele, President Tinubu
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of alleged plans by terrorists to launch attacks in parts of the country.
Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, claimed that insurgents were plotting attacks targeting Christians and prominent individuals, which he said could be carried out within weeks.
The cleric called on security agencies to heighten surveillance and preparedness, alleging that several states could be at risk, including Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, Kano, Kogi, Ondo, Kwara, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, and Yobe.
He further claimed that the attackers were aiming to target traditional rulers and influential figures in a bid to destabilise the country and attract international attention.
Ayodele also warned of possible protests linked to insecurity, which he said could impact the political climate if not properly addressed.
The cleric urged authorities to take proactive measures to forestall any potential threats and strengthen security across vulnerable areas.
However, his remarks included controversial suggestions on how to deal with suspected terrorists, which are contrary to established legal and human rights standards that require due process.
Security agencies have yet to officially respond to the claims. (Nigerian Tribune, excluding headline)
