The Kaduna Health Advocacy and Media Alliance (KADHAMA) has called for increased investment in healthcare and improved access to quality services, especially for vulnerable populations, as the world marks the 2026 World Health Day.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, KADHAMA said the annual observance provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of health and well-being as critical components of sustainable development.
The alliance noted that this year’s commemoration highlights the urgent need to ensure equitable access to healthcare services, stressing that no individual or community should be left behind in efforts to improve health outcomes.
“KADHAMA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advancing health awareness, strengthening advocacy efforts, and supporting improved healthcare delivery across Kaduna State,” the statement said.
It added that a resilient health system remains vital for social and economic progress.
The group commended the efforts of government institutions, healthcare workers, development partners, volunteers, and community actors for their roles in improving health indicators despite existing challenges.
Describing health as a fundamental human right, the alliance called for sustained investment in healthcare systems, infrastructure, and human resources.
It also urged relevant authorities to intensify efforts toward strengthening healthcare facilities and ensuring the availability of affordable, accessible, and quality services for citizens.
KADHAMA further advocated expanded access to essential health services, with emphasis on maternal, newborn, and child healthcare, alongside preventive and primary healthcare interventions.
The alliance stressed the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and community-based health education, urging greater public participation in health programmes.
“As we mark World Health Day, KADHAMA reiterates its readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to advance policies and actions that will guarantee improved health outcomes for the people of Kaduna State and beyond,” the statement added.
The statement was signed by the Chairman of KADHAMA, Garba Muhammad, and the Secretary, Sahura Jibril Maidoki.
