Phyno, Verydarkman, B-Lord
Popular Nigerian rapper Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, better known as Phyno, has made a public appeal to social media activist Martins Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan (VDM), asking VDM to drop his case against businessman Linus Williams, also known as B-Lord, so he can be released from custody.
The singer made this plea over the weekend while performing on stage in Enugu State. During the concert, Phyno stopped the music to talk to the large crowd. He called for unity and peace and specifically asked VDM to withdraw the complaints that led to B-Lord’s current troubles.
He said, “I have a request whether you answer me or not that’s on you but I have a request do you want to hear my request my brother withdraw the case.”
The trouble between VeryDarkMan and B-Lord started because of VDM’s work as an online activist. VDM, who is known for investigating businesses, began looking into B-Lord’s tech companies. He claimed that many people were complaining about an app called BillPoint, which B-Lord owns. VDM said users were losing money or having bad experiences, and he vowed to get justice for them.
The fight became very personal when B-Lord tried to fight back using the law. In a shocking move, B-Lord claimed he had officially registered and trademarked the word “Ratel”. Which was a direct attack on VDM, because the activist calls his followers the “Ratel” movement. By trying to own the name, B-Lord wanted to stop VDM from using his own brand. This made VDM more determined to go after B-Lord’s business.
Martins Otse (VDM) has become one of the most famous activists in Nigeria. He uses his social media pages to talk about human rights, bad business practices, and corruption. While some people think he is too loud, many others follow him because they believe he helps “the common man” get justice.
On the other hand, B-Lord is a very successful young businessman. He became famous and wealthy by creating apps for trading cryptocurrency and paying bills.
He is often seen as a role model for young people in the South-East because of how he rose from having little to owning a big business empire. However, his fast rise has also brought him a lot of legal attention.
B-Lord was recently arrested following the issues raised by VDM and other investigations into his business. Many fans at the Enugu concert cheered when Phyno asked for peace, hoping the two Influential men could settle their differences.
As of Monday morning, VeryDarkMan has not given a final answer to Phyno’s request. The situation remains a major topic of discussion across Nigeria, as people wait to see if the activist will listen to the music star or continue with the legal battle. (The Guardian)
