Kano State Gov Abba Kabir Yusuf dares former godfather Rabiu Kwankwaso
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, appears strongly prepared to confront the opposition in the state, insisting that the Kwankwasiyya Movement within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) would not come close to the seat of power in 2027, let alone secure a one-term in government.
Responding to the group’s new viral coinage in the Hausa language, “Abba Falle daya ce”, meaning Abba would only serve one term, he submitted that both ADC and NNPP lack the dexterity to win elections in the state.
Yusuf slammed the opposition parties under his erstwhile political godfather while addressing party supporters at Government House on arrival from the party’s national congress in Abuja amid a rousing reception from thousands of APC loyalists and residents on Saturday evening.
The governor, who recently parted ways with the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, after he realigned his political ambition with the ruling APC, has faced a series of attacks from the group, accusing him of betraying the trust reposed in him by the movement in NNPP.
Although Kwankwaso also dumped his NNPP for the ADC, a move analysts described as a double standard, both ADC and NNPP are now building a strong wall under Kwankwasiyya to defeat the ruling APC.
Yusuf, who seems to be taking the fight back to the Kwankwasiyya Movement, asserted that both ADC and NNPP lack the credibility to win elections, assuring that Kano under his leadership belongs to the APC and would win elections across all levels and even deliver President Tinubu in 2027.
He, therefore, appealed to residents and supporters to perfect their voter registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the only requisite that guarantees their votes and the APC’s victory in the next general elections.
State Chairman of the party, Umar Haruna Doguwa, explained that the APC in Kano remains stronger and more united to consolidate its victory. (The Guardian)
