Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he is reconsidering his earlier interest in venturing into politics, citing concerns over the track record of celebrities in the political space.

The Afrobeats star made this known during a recent livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel, where he reflected on the challenges associated with transitioning from entertainment to governance.

According to him, many public figures who made the switch have not recorded notable success, making the decision a difficult one.

“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful,” he said.

Davido added that politics appears to be a specialised field that requires full commitment.

“I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business,” he added. (TRIBUNE)
