A Christian Cleric, Rev. Fr. Jude Chikezie, on Good Friday decried killings and kidnappings by unpatriotic people, urging Nigerians to place much value on human life as Jesus Christ exhibited by redeeming mankind.
Chikezie, who is in charge of the Holy Spirit Church, Onireke, Ojo, Lagos State, gave the admonition during a procession by the church members to celebrate Good Friday.
He led the procession through major streets in the area to the admiration of the residents.
The procession was to identify with the sufferings of Jesus Christ including His crucifixion at Calvary.
Chikezie said that Jesus Christ loved and valued humanity so much that He laid down His life to redeem mankind.
He noted that Christ’s death was necessary for reconciliation of man with God.
“As a people, we are called upon to take after Christ in exhibiting love and care for one another.
“Christ, through His death on the cross, showed us a template and manual of daily living,” he said.
At the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tedi-Muwo, Ojo Lagos, Rev. Fr. Anthony Thompson led members of the church in a procession through major streets in the area.
Thompson admonished the people to refrain from acts contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The cleric said that the lenten season remained that of love, faith, sacrifice, compassion and care for the poor.
He emphasised the need for Christians to seek forgiveness from God and man when needed.
