The Delta State Police Command has announced a large-scale deployment of personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration.
In a statement released on Friday, the Command said officers have been strategically positioned at churches, event centres, highways, recreational spots, and other public places. Tactical teams and patrol units have also been mobilised statewide to deter criminal activities and respond swiftly to emergencies.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyenisi, directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify visibility policing and sustain intelligence-led operations throughout the festive period.
He also emphasised the need for officers to maintain a high level of alertness.
According to the statement, the Commissioner had earlier met with Area Commanders, urging them to collaborate closely with religious leaders within their jurisdictions and maintain communication during and after the Easter celebrations.
He further charged officers to remain professional, courteous, and respectful in their dealings with members of the public.
The Command called on residents of Delta State to remain vigilant and security-conscious, advising them to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or via the Control Room number: 08036684974.
Parents and guardians were also urged to closely monitor their children and wards during the festivities.
Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property, the police appealed for continued cooperation from the public to maintain peace and order across the state.
The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, wished all Christian faithful a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration. (The Nation)
