Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha
Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has announced her resignation as the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
Announcing her resignation on Friday via a post on her official X account, Onyejeocha said it is not an end but a new beginning.
She also attached a formal message of gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, ministry staff, her constituents, and Nigerians, framing it as the close of one chapter and the start of another in public service.
“It is with a heart full of gratitude that I announce my resignation as Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment,” she wrote.
“This decision comes with profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in his administration.
“This is not an end but a new beginning. I remain committed to service, to progress, and to building the Nigeria we all deserve. Thank you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Her resignation complies with President Tinubu’s directive requiring political appointees eyeing elective offices in 2027 to step down.
Onyejeocha, who represented Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency for 16 years from 2007-2023, intends to reclaim her former House of Representatives seat.
Her departure leaves Abia State as the only one without a representative in Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council, highlighting shifts in political positioning ahead of the next election cycle. (Guardian)
