The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Sunday announced plans to conduct a Range Classification Exercise for cadets of Short Service Course 49 (Army).
This is contained in a statement by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya, issued in Kaduna.
The exercise is scheduled to take place from March 30 to 31, at the NDA Open Range in Afaka, Kaduna, and will include night firing drills.
It assured residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, Afaka, and surrounding communities that adequate safety measures had been put in place to ensure a secure and successful exercise.
The academy, however, advised members of the public to avoid trespassing or moving within the designated exercise areas throughout the duration of the operation.
“The general public is urged to comply with this directive in the interest of their safety,” the statement said.
It also appealed to media organisations and community leaders to help disseminate the information widely to ensure public awareness and cooperation.
The statement quoted the Commandant of the academy, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Olatoye, expressing appreciation for the continued support and understanding of the public. (NAN)
