President Tinubu
BY BONIFACE AKARAH
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support as he marked his 74th birthday, while highlighting ongoing reforms and challenges facing the country.
In a message released on Saturday, Tinubu thanked citizens for their goodwill and acknowledged support from key members of his administration, including First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
“Today, as I clock another year in the journey of life, I’m filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity given me to serve this great nation,” Tinubu said.
“I want to take this moment to thank Nigerians for their messages, show of love and prayers on the occasion of my 74th birthday. I thank all our citizens for their patriotism, solidarity and support for our administration,” he added.
The President said he chose to observe the occasion quietly in line with prevailing national conditions.
“Consistent with my tradition over the years to mark my birthday in line with the mood of the nation each year, I resolved to also observe this year’s birthday low key,” he stated.
Reflecting on his administration’s policies, Tinubu said reforms had begun to yield results despite external pressures.
“As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced since we initiated our reforms. I’m glad that our sacrifices have not been in vain as we can see some glittering light at the end of the tunnel, despite the temporary setback caused by ongoing Middle East crisis,” he said.
He credited Nigerians and his administration for progress recorded so far.
“The credit for the positive outcomes we have achieved does not belong solely to me… We achieved the gains together,” Tinubu noted.
Looking ahead to the third anniversary of his administration, the President expressed confidence in achieving long-term goals.
“As we march towards the third anniversary of our administration, it is my deepest conviction that we shall succeed in building a brighter future for our citizens and future generations,” he said.
Tinubu also reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing national challenges with public support.
“We are determined to confront some of the challenges we face today, and with your continued support, we shall overcome,” he added.
The President called for continued cooperation among citizens toward national development.
“Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa,” he said.
The statement comes as the administration approaches its third year in office amid ongoing economic and policy reforms.
