SSA to the President, Nasir Aminu
Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, has resigned his appointment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His resignation follows a directive by President Tinubu requiring all political appointees seeking elective positions in 2027 should step down on or before March 31, 2026.
The directive affects ministers, special advisers, senior special assistants and other political appointees in the current administration.
In his resignation letter, Ja’oji expressed gratitude to the president for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to youth development.
He said his selection into key positions was driven by the president’s confidence in young Nigerians and his desire to empower them to contribute to national development.
Ja’oji also pledged his continued loyalty and readiness to serve the country in any capacity if called upon by the president in future.
He commended the administration’s “Renewed Hope Initiative,” describing it as a major driver of policies and programmes aimed at national growth.
The former aide expressed optimism that many of the administration’s policies would yield greater results if given another term in office beyond 2027.
His resignation is seen as a clear indication of his intention to contest for an elective position, though he did not specify the office he plans to seek.
Supporters of the politician have welcomed the development, expressing confidence in his ambition and pledging their support for his political aspirations.
However, Daily Trust gathered that Ja’oji is eyeing Tarauni Federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives. (Weekend Trust, excluding headline)
