Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has hailed the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, over what he described as a “strategic and unifying decision” that produced Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman of the party.
In a strongly worded congratulatory message, the governor said the emergence of Yilwatda through consensus reflects the growing maturity of the party and the deliberate efforts of its national leadership to strengthen unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mutfwang noted that the decision by the party’s leadership to entrust the chairmanship to the North Central, and particularly Plateau State, was not only a reward for loyalty but also a recognition of the depth of political and intellectual capacity embedded within the state.
He said Plateau has consistently proven itself as a reservoir of talent, producing individuals whose contributions continue to shape governance, strengthen democratic institutions, and advance national development.
According to him, Yilwatda’s emergence is yet another testament to the quality of leadership that the state offers, describing the new chairman as a bridge-builder with the capacity to consolidate the party and reposition it for future victories.
The governor praised President Tinubu and other top party leaders for demonstrating foresight, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination in guiding the process that led to the emergence of the new National Working Committee.
He said the role played by Vice President Shettima, Senate President Akpabio, Speaker Abbas, governors and other stakeholders in ensuring a rancour-free process underscores the APC’s commitment to stability and internal cohesion.
Mutfwang further expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s leadership, citing his background in digital transformation, energy research, and electoral administration as critical assets that would enhance party organization and broaden its appeal across the country.
He also referenced Yilwatda’s earlier efforts in promoting reconciliation, expanding membership through e-registration, and fostering unity among party stakeholders as indicators of his readiness for the national assignment.
Reaffirming Plateau’s place within the APC’s evolving power structure, the governor said the state remains committed to supporting the party’s vision while contributing its best talents to national service.
On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, Mutfwang congratulated Yilwatda on his emergence and prayed for wisdom, strength, and good health as he takes on the responsibility of leading the ruling party at a critical time in the nation’s political journey.
The governor expressed optimism that under Yilwatda’s leadership, the APC would continue to deepen democratic values, strengthen internal unity, and position itself for a decisive outing in the 2027 elections.
