An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday adjourned ruling in the murder case involving former Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS) disciplinary committee, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, to May 20, 2026.
The trial judge, Justice E.O. Ajayi, fixed the date following the submission of defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo (SAN), who informed the court that the defence had no further witnesses to present.
The defendant, a former chairman of the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo State, is facing a one-count charge of murder.
According to the charge, the alleged offence occurred on September 23, 2023, at about 4:30 p.m. in the G.R.A, Agodi area of Ibadan, where one Wonuola Ayinde was reportedly knocked down and crushed to death.
The charge sheet states that the offence is contrary to Section 317 and punishable under Section 325 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
Defence counsel, Ojo, subsequently urged the court to fix a date for the adoption of final written addresses ahead of judgment. (The Nation)
