Tragedy was averted on Tuesday when a tipper lorry loaded with sand lost control and rammed into the main entrance gate of the newly constructed Gombe State Government House.

According to reports, the driver of the truck, belonging to Tricta Nigeria Ltd, working on road construction within Gombe State, lost control while approaching the roundabout in the area and veered off the road.

Though there were no fatalities as a result of the crash, the driver was said to have been injured and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed facility.

It was also reported that a few nearby pedestrians who were passing, as well as security men at the gate, managed to run to safety.

However, the crash caused significant damage to the newly installed multi-million Naira gate, which was part of the ongoing renovation of the entire Government House.

As of the time of filling the report, there has been no official statement from any of the concerned government agencies. (Nigerian Tribune)
