The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olutunji Disu, on Monday, approved a major redeployment of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) across key departments and formations of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
According to a source in the police, the IGP approved the development immediately after their decoration.
The move, the source said, is aimed at strengthening the operational efficiency of the force nationwide.
The directive, conveyed through a wireless message titled “Most Immediate” from Force Headquarters in Abuja, outlined the reassignment of several senior officers to strategic commands and units across the country.
According to the signal, AIG Ado Emmanuel has been posted to the Department of Research and Planning at Force Headquarters, while AIG Joseph Eribo has been assigned to the Armament unit.
AIG Miller Dantawaye will now oversee Operations, and AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche has been deployed to Training and Development.
Similarly, AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo has been moved to the Accounts and Budget Department, while AIG Dahiru Mohammed has been posted to Zone 15 Command in Maiduguri.
AIG Dankombo F. Morris has been assigned to Zone 4 Command in Makurdi, and AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14 Command in Katsina.
In other postings, AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba has been redeployed to Legal Services, while AIG Ahmed Musa will head Community Policing. Notably, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has been appointed to lead Zone 2 Command in Lagos, a highly strategic formation overseeing police operations in both Lagos and Ogun states.
Also affected by the reshuffle, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom has been posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, while AIG Haruna Olufemi has taken charge of the Special Protection Unit at Force Headquarters.
The police high command directed all affected formations to update their records immediately, highlighting the urgency attached to the redeployments.
Recall, the IGP also hinted at mandatory training for the DIGs and AIGs as part of the ongoing reforms in the force. (The Nation)
